Love In Action

By this we know love, that He laid down His life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.  But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?  Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.  1 John 3:16-18

We are very excited to launch our Love In Action campaign!  Love is shown by action.  Love is a verb, not words or talk.  After all, God is love and He demonstrated His love for us by sending Jesus to die on the cross for us.  Our Abba Father didn’t just say He loved us – He showed it with action.  The action of Jesus dying on the cross is our adoption process.  Ephesians 1:4-5 says, For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight.  In love He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will…

Adoption was God’s idea.  He showed His great love for us by adopting us.  We are launching our Love In Action campaign to inspire His Church to step out in faith, put your Love In Action, maybe even by adopting, fostering, or helping orphans or adoptive families in some way.  Our first event is Love In Action:  Finding Families For NY’s Waiting Children.  On Friday, May 16, 2014, we will be hosting a free Pastors’ Brunch from 9am-noon and an Evening Event both with our very special key-note speaker, Bishop W.C. Martin, from Possum Trot, Tx.  Sandra Flach and Mary Slager have had the privilege of meeting Bishop Martin at 2 conferences this past year.  He is a dynamic speaker with a passion and heart for the fatherless.  Bishop Martin has written a book published by Focus On The Family, entitled Small Town, Big Miracle, and he’s been featured on such programs as The Today Show, Oprah, Family Life Today, and in People Magazine.  His family’s inspiring story of foster care transformed his church and community with over 70 kids being adopted out of the foster care system in Texas and into homes in this poor, backwoods, Texas community.  They themselves say, “We don’t have much, but we do have love.”

Love In Action:  Finding Families For NY’s Waiting Kids is on Friday, May 16, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 63 Mountain View Ave., Albany, NY  12205.  The Pastors’ Brunch is free and open to all pastors and their guests.  The Capital District Ministers’ Fellowship will be joining us for this event as well.  The Evening Meeting is free and open to the general public.   Local foster care agencies will be on hand before and after Bishop Martin’s message to answer questions and provide information.  For more information click on “Events” on this site.  Please join us on May 16th and step out in faith to put your love in action!
