Global Orphan Care & Human Trafficking Prevention

JFO advocates for believers to care for orphans globally. Even though there are over 163 million orphans on planet earth, not all of them are adoptable. However, we can still help them. You can help by supporting reputable Christian ministries that are already helping the fatherless around the world. Here are a few ministries we work with and recommend:

Mercy Trucks – Ukraine: We personally know and support these YWAM missionaries who travel around Ukraine bringing the Gospel and their dental truck to orphanages and poor villages. http://www.mercytrucksukraine.org/

In His Steps International – Cambodia:
We are the home base church for this ministry. Go to their website and click on “ministries” and learn about Sak Saum, Father’s House, and Loaves & Fish – all components of IHSI which reach out to vulnerable children, women, and widows.

Human Trafficking and the Orphan:
Human trafficking is getting a lot of attention in the Church these days and rightly so. But did you know that orphans are prime targets for traffickers? There are about 163 mission orphans in the world today. 1.2 million children are victims of human trafficking – globally and here in the United States. Each year 14+ million children grow up as orphans and age out of the system by age 16 (that’s over 38,000 daily). In Ukraine & Russia kids who “age-out” face a bleak future. Statistics reveal that 10-15% commit suicide before the age of 18. 60% of the girls are forced into prostitution (human trafficking). 70% of the boys become hardened criminals. Ukraine has the highest number of victims of human trafficking in all of Eastern Europe with about 117,000 annually. Those at greatest risk to fall prey to traffickers: the poor, uneducated, unskilled = aged-out orphan girls!

Here are more ministries we have partnered with to fight this battle on behalf of the orphan and the oppressed:

YWAM/Vinnitsa: This ministry works with older orphans in Ukraine and is establishing “Transition Homes” for orphans who age-out of the system.

Justice For Youth: JFY is a ministry we advocate with on behalf of those vulnerable to human trafficking. They provide education and awareness globally on human trafficking statistics and solutions. Together we champion hope for the abandoned.
