FAITH: Fantastic Adventures In Trusting Him

If I acted crazy, I did it for God;  if I acted serious, I did it for you.  Christ’s love has moved me to such extremes.  His love has the first and last word in everything I do.”  2 Corinthians 5:13-14 The Message Bible

These verses pretty much sum up the life of Mandy Litzke of Safe Harbor Orphan Care who was recently a guest on our Orphans No More radio show.  Mandy and her husband have 2 biological daughters and 14 children adopted internationally from 8 different countries.  That may sound crazy to some, but Mandy’s heart for orphans grew out of personal experience – she was an orphan herself.

As a little girl growing up in a home of drug abuse and violence, Mandy witnessed the murder of her mother.  She entered the foster care system around age 4 and bounced around from foster home to foster home.  Finally she arrived at the home of a Christian family who would eventually adopt her when she was 8 years old.

Childhood for Mandy was a place of no hope, but God intervened through physical adoption and spiritual adoption (Ephesians 1:3-6).  Her past is what motivates her today to, “give hope to a child who could not visually see hope.

Many of us who have adopted once or twice internationally know how daunting the process can be, but to adopt 14 times from 8 different countries is monumental.  Their FAITH (Fantastic Adventures In Trusting Him) journey continues as the Litzke family is currently in the process of adopting a 2 year old from Ghana.  To learn more listen to the 4/4/14 episode of Orphans No More right from this website.
