“Defend the cause of the fatherless.” Isaiah 1:17

Orphan Sunday is an annual event observed the 2nd Sunday in November.  This year churches of every denomination in every state across the U.S. and in 76 countries globally will celebrate adoption, foster care and global orphan initiatives that reveal God’s heart.

All around the world orphans are hungry, homeless, voiceless, without hope, without love.  And it’s not just a need that exists in far away places – it’s a need right here at home too.  With nearly 400,000 children in foster care (100,000+ available for adoption) here in the U.S. we have a national foster care crisis.  In New York State alone there are 23,924 kids in foster care – compare that to the 14,767 churches throughout the state and we can see clearly that the Christian community is the solution to the problem.

Join Christians around the globe rising for foster youth and orphans on November 8th with one voice, on one day, for one purpose – to defend the cause of the fatherless.

JFO will be sharing locally at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albany, NY and will host a table at Loudonville Community Church in Loudonville, NY, both on November 8th.  What will YOUR church be doing for Orphan Sunday?  To learn more visit:

5K For Orphans!

Globally an estimated 17.8 million children have lost both parents.  There are more than 400,000 children in the foster system in the U.S. today, with over 100,000 waiting to be adopted.  In NY alone there are almost 24,000 kids in care; compare that to the 14, 767 churches statewide and we can see that the church can out-source the need.  Sadly, most people are unaware that there is a global orphan crisis in 2015.

Justice For Orphans seeks to bring awareness to this tragedy and engage the Church.  JFO advocates for Christian families to adopt and/or foster as well as support global orphan initiatives such as Orphan Sunday.  Through conferences, speaking engagements, social media, and Christian radio JFO is actively proclaiming the biblical mandate in James 1:27 to care for orphans.

JFO is an all-volunteer run non-profit Christian organization and we need your support to defend the cause of the fatherless locally and globally.  Please join us on Saturday, October 24th, at Faith Plaza in Ravena, NY for our 2nd annual 5K For Orphans! Following the 5K, Abounding Love Christian Fellowship and Hopeful Life Center is hosting their annual Harvest Fest.  Free fall fun for the whole family!
